  • Getty Center: Overdrive: L.A.

Overdrive refers to the extraordinary pace and worldwide impact of L.A.'s impressive growth. The term also alludes to the fact that an engine churning at incredible speed may overheat. In the face of complicated civic, socioeconomic, and environmental challenges, L.A. has continued to recalibrate and foster bold new cycles of architectural exploration.

  • Getty Villa: Sicily: Art and Invention between Gre

Sicily: Art and Invention between Greece and Rome presents 145 objects that bear witness to the athletic and military victories, religious rituals, opulent lifestyles, and intellectual attainments that shaped Classical culture at its peak.

  • LACMA: Stanley Kubrick

Stanley Kubrick was known for exerting complete artistic control over his projects; in doing so, he reconceived the genres in which he worked. The exhibition covers the breadth of Kubrick’s practice, beginning with his early photographs for Lookmagazine, taken in the 1940s, and continuing with his groundbreaking directorial achievements of the 1950s through the 1990s.

  • MOCA: SELECTIONS FROM THE PERMANENT COLLECTION

The efforts of MOCA’s Acquisition & Collection, Photography, and Drawings committees, as well as those of many generous individuals and institutions, have enabled the museum to cultivate one of the premier collections of contemporary art in the United States.

  • MOCA: Urs Fischer

A twisted take on the real, Fischer' work unabashedly declares its affiliation to such art historical movements as Pop, Surrealism, and Dada, all of which similarly toyed with the found image to create new and unanticipated combinations, shifts of scale, and a sometimes violent collision of visual information. Fischer's work is characterized by a morbid glamour-sexuality, the macabre, and the disturbing effects of fracture and collage all make frequent appearances in his oeuvre and echo our contemporary environment of constructed images.

    Now through August 19, 2013

  • Robert Plant

50 years on – drawing from a lifetime of adventures, tracking the dark, beautiful resonator, Plant follows his heart and lifts his voice higher and joyous ever away – and beyond. Before his recent projects in Nashville with Alison Krauss and Band of Joy, Plant worked alongside the very interesting force, “Strange Sensation”, recording the critically acclaimed, multi-Grammy nominated albums – “Dreamland” and “Mighty Rearranger”. From this platform, Sensational Space Shifters has developed. Now together these confederates and conspirators dig deeper and more intensely, always twisting and turning, bringing the past into a brilliant technicolour present.

A beach club, not a boys' club.

You're in charge of the meeting, why wouldn't you choose a beachfront location where you can watch the surf, catch a few rays, and literally be at the beach? Let's face it, work doesn't have to be all work at this beach hotel in Santa Monica.

Whether it's a casual Board Room, the sublime Colonnade Ballroom, an intimate Private Dining Room, or the cozy Library, Hotel Casa del Mar offers someplace for every kind of interaction. Plus our catering team will do what they do best: cater to you. Even if your meeting is a pitch by the pool, your clients will always come to you because you are here.

AUDIO / VISUAL

Santa Monica meeting venues, event planners and all the audio-visual equipment you’ll ever need. Even Murano chandeliers. We’re flexible too. We can accommodate any conference meeting. Small, large or in between, the beach is the place to go to get things done. Really.
